Midwives

I have the honor of being alongside some pretty amazing women in my everyday life. In the world of midwifery, You can become a midwife in several ways and there are different types of midwives. I will be a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife). I am a Student Midwife that is going through an apprenticeship under two CPMs.

The Types Of Midwives

A Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) is a knowledgeable, skilled, and professional independent midwifery practitioner who has met the standards for certification set by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and is qualified to provide the Midwives Model of Care.

A Certified Midwives – The Certified Midwife (CM) credential denotes a master's-prepared healthcare professional trained in the discipline of midwifery. Like CNMs, CMs receive representation through the American College of Nurse-Midwives and must therefore meet the same standards for certification.

A Certified Nurse Midwife- is a registered nurse who graduates from a nurse-midwifery program, while a certified midwife is not a registered nurse. Like CMs, CNMs, receive representation through the American College of Nurse-Midwives and must therefore meet the same standards for certification.

No matter how or where you birth it is so important that you feel heard, safe and informed.
